Victorian Government’s Good Music Neighbours Grants NOW OPEN

Victorian Government’s Good Music Neighbours Grants NOW OPEN

Live music venues have the opportunity to apply for a grant of up to $25,000 to support sound proofing and sound reduction projects.

Applications are now open for the second round of the Andrews Labor Government’s Good Music Neighbours program, which offers matched funding for projects that will help venues to control the level of sound that emanates from their venue into the surrounding neighbourhood.

Part of the Labor Government’s landmark $22 million Music Works program, Good Music Neighbours supports venues to strike the balance between maintaining premium quality sound for audiences and performers and managing external noise levels for the benefit of surrounding residents and businesses.

Last year 26 venues across Victoria, ranging from the iconic Tote Hotel to Gippsland’s historic Bundalaguah and Myrtlebank Hall, shared in more than $270,000 in grants through the program.

Projects supported included acoustic assessments, installing double glazing and creating air lock entrances as well as the installation of sound absorbing furnishings.

Good Music Neighbours is delivered as a partnership between the Government, Music Victoria and the National Live Music Office. Grants can support venues to create new live music spaces or to update existing spaces to meet the latest guidelines. Grants must be matched with an equal contribution from the venue.

Applications are now open and close on Wednesday 7 June 2017. For more information visit:www.creative.vic.gov.au/gmn
