The Presets to deliver keynote at Feedback conference

The Presets are announced as keynote speakers for the third Feedback music industry conference aimed at 12 to 25-year-olds. They will discuss their career with triple j’s Dom Alessio.

Feedback is put together by Indent, the main network for all-ages entertainment in NSW for those wanting to enter, or rise up, in the music industry.

Organised in conjunction with Vivid Sydney, it is held at the Museum of Contemporary Art on Monday June 8, and boasts a wide array of musicians and music biz heavyweights speaking at the panels throughout the day.

In Keep On Running, Sydney singer-songwriter Andy Bull exchanges songwriting tips with former Bluejuice frontman Jake Stone, as well as his creativity, how he redefined himself as a musician and reached commercial success through his Sea of Approval album from last year.

Everybody Dance Now! looks at EDM’s struggle to establish itself in the all-ages space. Facilitated by Goodgod Small Club booker Andrew Levins, Dan Williams of Art Vs Science, Alastair Green of Maker Agency and DJs KLP, Bad Ezzy, Andy Garvey and 11-year-old Black Summer (Rhys Toms) look at the genre’s opportunities and challenges, how to get gigs and how young spinners can stand out from the competition.

What Does Success Look Like In 2015 outlines the current landscape where social media popularity is as significant as record sales to gauge success and how worldwide success can be virtually instantaneous these days. Convener Dom O’Connor (FBi Radio) will also look at how the music industry has changed and how acts remain relevant, and will ask for input from Isabella Manfredi (The Preatures), Adam Lewis (Secret Garden/Opera Bar), Nick O’Byrne (Look Out Kid), Fiona Stafford (UNFD) and artist manager Melody Forgani.

In the Music Industry Speed Dating session, APRA will answer questions on royalties, FBi Radio and triple j Unearthed on how to get played on radio, UNFD on publicity tips and tricks, legal advice from Arts Law, booking advice from Village Sounds and educational tips from Sydney TAFE Music.
