Humanitix Pledges $4 Million to The Life You Can Save

Humanitix, the humane ticketing platform, hands over a whopping $4 million to The Life You Can Save.

The sum marks the largest, unrestricted donation the charity has received, and is “transformative” for the organisation, says Andrea La Mesa, co-CEO of for The Life You Can Save.

“For every dollar donated to our operations, we are able to multiply that by more than ten times for our recommended nonprofits,” adds La Mesa. “We will use these funds to expand our reach to new markets, unlocking generosity globally and lifting more people out of poverty.”

Founded in 2016 by high school mates Adam McCurdie and Joshua Ross, Humanitix is a Sydney-based not-for profit organisation dedicated to funding worthwhile projects in Australia and abroad.

Its model converts 100% of profits from booking fees and funnels it to charities — including The Life You Can Save.

That partnership, says Ross, “helps us ensure our hard work and profits are flowing to the most effective charities in the world, achieving our mission of turning resented ticket booking fees into a powerful force for good in the world.”

Since launch, Humanitix has donated $10 million to projects supporting education, health, sustainability, humanitarian efforts and other good causes, and the initiative now operates in North America, the U.K. and on both sides of the Tasman.

In 2018, Humanitix won the Google Impact Challenge and has since doubled in size every six months, the organisation claims.

It’s backed by tech giants Google and Atlassian and its platform has powered ticketing for Strawberry Fields Music Festival, Beyond the Valley and others.

The Life You Can Save, co-founded by Australian philosopher Peter Singer in 2013, recommends research-based charities working on interventions across poverty. Read more here.
