Prince’s musical family holding tribute

Some of Prince’s “musical family” will turn Minneapolis purple with a tribute concert to the late superstar next month.

It will be held at the new U.S. Bank Stadium on October 13.

A Minnesota State Arts Board newsletter which confirmed the date and venue, named the acts as “Morris Day and the Time, Sheila E., The Revolution and New Power Generation featuring prominent stars of today on guest vocals.”

But Prince’s long time attorney L. Londell McMillan said the line-up was still being sorted out, and would only be announced next week.

In fact, his former drummer Sheila E. has issued a statement saying she wasn’t scheduled to perform. She is going to be playing a show in New York on that day.

The event’s organisers want Minneapolis’ local community groups involved. Those who come up with the most creative ideas for it will be offered free or discounted tickets, depending on their involvement.
