New signings and team-ups: w/e March 7

Two US deals for Panama

On the eve of their showcase at South By Southwest in Austin, Texas, Sydney electronic pop trio Panama have finalised two US agreements. The band has signed a record deal for North America with 300 Entertainment, the new company set up by former Warner Music Group head Lyor Cohen. It will release their triple j-backed Always EP this week. The band also signed with booking agency Billions (Arcade Fire) for live representation.


Dew Process reels in Circa Waves

The latest international signing for Dew Process are Circa Waves from Liverpool, England. The band, whose single Stuck In My Teeth is out this Friday, joins the Australian label’s global roster of London Grammar, Mumford & Sons, Gossling, Kingswood and Mikhael Paskalev.


Massive deal with Earache

Melbourne hard rock band Massive has secured a worldwide deal with UK and US metal/rock label Earache. It is home to Rival Suns and Brit buzz band The Temperance Movement. Earache will release their debut album from last year, Full Throttle, abroad on May 31. Tours of Europe and the US are to be finalised shortly, their manager Rick Butterworth of Third Verse Management, told The Music Network. The band formed 12 months ago.


Remote Control extends deal with Flightless label

Remote Control has extended its label agreement with the Flightless label, formed by Melbourne band King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizards’ drummer Eric Moore to release their third album Float Along – Fill Your Lungs. Flightless also released music by Melbourne’s The Murlocs, Love Migrate and Sagamore. The first release under the extended deal is a single Love Forever / Evolution 1964 by Victorian surf coast act The Babe Rainbow.


Stonefield launch ‘70s clothing line

Stonefield has launched a ‘70s-inspired clothing line designed by drummer and singer Amy Findlay, sold through its Stonefield Vintage online store.


Guvera continues Asian expansion

A month after setting up in Indonesia with PT Skybee, Australian music streaming company Guvera has struck a deal in China. The pact, with mobile devices manufacturer Lenovo, will see it pre-installed in its smartphones and other devices. Guvera is next looking at Malaysia, India and the Philippines.


The Stones paint it red

To coincide with The Rolling Stones’ 50th anniversary Australian tour this month, Warburn Estate wineries has launched a Stones-branded McLaren Vale Shiraz. The company earlier produced AC/DC’s successful wine range. The wine is available through Dan Murphy’s.
