Guns N’ Roses sell one million tickets in 24 hours

Legendary rock band Guns N’ Roses have sold over one million tickets in 24 hours for the European and Canadian legs of the Not In This Lifetime world tour next May.

Tour promoter Live Nation said that brings the total of sales this year by the reunited trio of Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan to over three million. This makes it the year’s most successful rock tour, Live Nation said.

These figures do not include their 2017 US run, which went on sale at the weekend, and will stage before the Canadian dates.

The seven-week 19-date European shows begin on May 27 in Ireland. It visits Madrid, Zurich, Munich, London, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Paris, Vienna and ends in Tel Aviv, Israel on July 15.

After a two week break, the North American leg begins in St. Louis on July 27. The seven US concerts take to Minneapolis, Denver, Miami, Winston-Salem, Hershey and winds up in Buffalo on August 16.

The nine Canadian shows begin on August 19 in Montreal and finishes on September 1 in Vancouver. Guns N’ Roses then return to the US for three shows ending on September 8.

The band’s 25 North American shows during the northern summer grossed US$116.8 million and sold one million tickets.

Two in New York were to 100,177 fans and grossed US$11.6 million. Two each at Chicago’s Soldier Field, Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts and L.A.’s Dodger Stadium, with all three venues grossing US$8 million each.

The Gunners finished off their 2016 touring with eight dates in South America. These began on October 27 in Lima, Peru, and drew 30,000 to the Estadio Monumental de Universitario de Deportes.

Rumours that are circulating suggest that Duff McKagan is giving some of his money from touring to Slash. The guitarist is said to be losing over 50% of his fortune due to his divorce after a 20-year marriage. McKagan made some wise property investments in the past and is considered to be very wealthy.

According to reports, Slash and McKagan get 25% of the take, while Axl Rose gets 50%, out of which he’ll pay the other members of the touring band – drummer Frank Ferrer, guitarist Richard Fortus, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and new keyboardist Melissa Rees.
