Chart Wrap: Nathaniel’s big Hot 100 debut; 5 Seconds Of Summer hit #3 on the ARIA Chart

TMN Hot 100 Pharrell’s Happy spends another week at #1, however Clean Bandits’ Rather Be and Cash Cash’s Take Me Home each climb to make a play for the top, with Rather Be leaping from #10 to #4, and Take Me Home moving from #7 to #3. But by far the strongest competition for Pharrell in future weeks will be Rihanna’s Jump, which is sitting at #2 on the chart after only four weeks. Rudimental’s Free drops from #2 to #5 in its eighth week on the chart, however considering they are currently lapping the country with Future Music, don’t expect this downward shift to become a trend just yet. Joel Fletcher’s Swing and A Great Big World’s team up with Christina Aguilera also move down the Top 10, from #5 to #7 and to #8 from #4 respectively. The most impressive move up the charts comes from Iluka, whose 12th of July jumps from #76 to #23 in its second week. Cedric Gervais’ reworking of Miley Cyrus’ Adore You jumps from #74 to #31, also in its second week, while WMA artists Ryan Keen and Lily Allen jumps from #46 to #24 and #50 to #25 respectively. The two highest debuts this week come from SME domestic artist Nathaniel – whose second single You’re Beautiful enters at #23, after being the Most Added track to commercial radio last week – and Jason Derulo, whose Stupid Love debuts at #32. ARIA Singles Sydney’s 5 Seconds Of Summer debut at #3 with their radio favourite She Looks So Perfect, which is already sitting at #20 on the TMN Hot 100 after three weeks of airplay, suggesting this might not be the chart peak for this hooky track. Above it, Rather Be by Clean Bandit has nudged up from #3 to #2, while Pharrell holds steady at #1 for the eighth week in a row, equalling his previous run with Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines, as well Gotye’s run with Somebody That I Used To Know. Dolly Parton’s Blue Smoke also dropped from #7 to #10. Highest Australian debut was by Funkoars, whose Dawn Of The Head entered at #18; below them a place, Rufus’ Atlas leapt from #38 to #19. A handful of re-entries peppered the 20s, with A Day to Remember’s Common Courtesy, Lady Gaga’s Artpop and Eminem’s Curtain Call all rejoining the charts at #22, #23 and #25, respectively.
