Chart Wrap: INXS deny Pharrell’s album a #1 debut

HOT 100 Sara Bareilles’ Brave jumped from #10 to #2 this week, an amazing leap that could see Pharrell’s reign at the top of the Hot 100 end sooner than his beloved appearance at Future on the weekend may suggest. Conversely, Rihanna’s Jump fell dramatically this week, from #2 to #9, almost as if to clear the way for Bareilles. 5 Seconds Of Summer’s She Looks So Perfect has also made an impressive jump up the chart, moving from #20 to land inside the Top 10, at #8, after less than a month at commercial radio. Deluro’s latest single Stupid Love (his fifth from Tattoos) has certainly benefitted from sounding strikingly similar to Justin Timberlake’s Cry Me A River,jumping from #32, where the track debuted last week, to #19. David Guetta’s Shot Me Down enjoyed the highest debut this week, landing at #23. Making big moves a little lower down the chart is John Martin’s Anywhere For You (from #76 to #33), DJ Cassidy’s Calling All Hearts (from #75 to #35; also our prediction for the next big Get Lucky/Blurred Lines disco throwback), and Flaws by Bastille (from #80 to #36). ARIA Singles Chart Pharrell’s Happy has sat in pole position for nine weeks, which enters the track into a club that includes the likes of Los Del Rio’s Macarena,pious charity single We Are The World, Shakira’s Hips Don’t Lie,and just five other singles. He has also toppled his previous record for eight weeks at #1 with last year’s Blurred Lines. Like in the Hot 100, Sara Bareilles’ Brave has risen, moving from #6 to a new high of #3. Clean Bandit’s Rather Be remains at #2, while David Guetta’s Shot Me Down hits #4 in its second week, moving from last week’s debut of #27. After their impressive #3 debut last week, Sydney lads 5 Seconds From Summer drop to #7 with She’s So Perfect, despite increased radio love for the track. Highest debut this week comes from Nathaniel, with his second single You’re Beautiful (not a James Blunt cover!) entering at #14, followed closely by Coldplay’s Magic at #17. Further down debuted Pitbull’s Wild Wild Loveat #26, and Justin Timberlake’s Jason Deluro’s Stupid Loveat #39. ARIA Albums Chart The nation’s collective INXS binge has proven detrimental to Pharrell Williams and his second solo album G I R L, which was held off the top spot by INXS’ The Very Best, which has now sat at #1 for four weeks. The rest of their albums are being shaken out of the 50, with Kick dropping from #3 to #15, Live At Wembley Stadium 1991 at #24, and The Swing at #50. Katy Perry’s quick visit saw Prism jump from #9 to #3 this week, while Bruno Mars’ Unorthodox Jukebox also benefitted from some quality time spent Down Under, leaping from #24 to #5, while Mars’ previous record Doo-wops and Hooligansre-entered at #29. The highest non-Pharrell debut this week comes from Hillsong United, whose ironically-titled The White Album debuted at #9. A little lower, Schoolboy Q’s Oxymoron made a surprisingly high debut at #11, while Mastermind by Rick Ross debuted at #49.
