BMG inks new deal with Bamboos frontman Lance Ferguson

BMG is proud to announce that ARIA and APRA Award nominee and platinum-selling writerLance Fergusonhas signed a worldwide music publishing deal with the company.

New Zealand-born, Melbourne-based Lance Ferguson has become a cornerstone of soul music in Australia, dividing his time between leading soul/funk giantsThe Bamboos, releasing pop/electronica
asLanu, and fielding the eclectic jazz sounds of hisMenagerieandBlack Feelingprojects.


He has also lent his production, songwriting and guitar-playing skills to a multitude of local and international artists. The first album released under his own name,Raw Material, was released this year to widespread critical acclaim.

As a co-writer of theCookin’ On 3 Burnerssong ‘This Girl’, Ferguson’s lyrical savvy and knack for crafting memorable guitar hooks saw him achieve global success in 2016. The song became a worldwide hit after being re-worked by French DJKungsand went on to achieve gold, diamond and multi-platinum status in fourteen countries.

It reached Number One in France, Germany, Russia and six other countries, went Top 10 in 37 countries and held the number two position in the UK for four weeks. It was synchronised in TV advertising campaigns in the USA, France, Poland, Australia and South Africa for brands such asPeugeot,Cricket WirelessandJust Jeans, and licensed to numerous films and TV shows worldwide.

The first release under the new BMG deal will be the upcoming eighth studio album from The Bamboos, to be released in 2018.

Long regarded as one of Australia’s premier soul/funk outfits and one of the best live bands in the country, The Bamboos have received five ARIA Award nominations and three APRA Music Award nominations over their 17-year history. ‘I Got Burned’, the band’s initial collaboration withTim Rogersin 2012, was voted #54 in that year’striple j Hottest 100.

The Bamboos have just announced a special series of four intimate shows in November at beloved Melbourne venue,Cherry Bar. Each week they will play a one-of-a-kind set, drawing on seven albums of long-time crowd favourites, and culminating in a live premiere of their forthcoming 2018 album.
