Australia’s Got Talent, The Voice, back in 2016

Nine Network has confirmed it is airing The Voice and Australia’s Got Talent in 2016.

After a low relaunch, the rebooted The Voice pulled in strong figures in its fourth season. On its sixth episode on Tuesday night, it hit 1.428 million metro. It was the most watched show in the key advertising demographics 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

The Voice is co-produced by Shine Australia and Holland’s Talpa Productions. Shine CEO Mark Fennessy confirmed, “The Voice is a certified global smash which continues to deliver outstanding ratings and a brilliant second-screen experience.

“Together with our partners at Nine, we’re delighted to commence work even earlier in building on that success in 2016.”

Applications for artists to be the 2016 Voice will open later in the year.

Australia’s Got Talent was axed 15 months ago. Casting has already begun by producers FremantleMedia Australia and Executive Producer Julie Ward’s ZigZag TV.

FremantleMedia Australia & Asia CEO, Ian Hogg, said in a statement: “Got Talent is a world-class format and Julie is a world-class creative. It’s a powerful combination.”

Australia’s Got Talent first appeared on Australian screens in 2007 on the Seven Network. Seven failed to pick up the option after five years due to sliding viewership, and Nine took it over in August 2013, only to also abandon it in April 2014.

Winners included Justice Crew, Mark Vincent, Smokin'" Joe Robinson, Bonnie Anderson, Jack Vidgen, Andrew DeSilva and Uncle Jed. Judges included Brian McFadden, Timomatic, Dannii Minogue, Kyle Sandiland, Red Symons and and Geri Halliwell.
