Wilson Blackley has signed to label THAA Records, marking the label’s first signing in over three years.

Blackley has also signed a management deal with Ecstatic! Management and is working with Select Music for bookings.

The signings follow Blackley’s debut single ‘Home’, which was produced by GRAMMY-nominated Sam Teskey of The Teskey Brothers.

THAA Records’ Aidan McLaren noted how rare it was to bring someone new onto the label.

“We only look to sign acts that completely blow us away and that only happens every few years,” he said.

“Wilson is without doubt one of those acts. Within the first 30 seconds of hearing ‘Home’, we had goosebumps and 100% wanted to be involved.”

Nathan Gunn of Ecstatic Management, meanwhile, said working with Blackley was a no-brainer.

“Upon first hearing Wilson’s demos, I was floored by his ability to craft words and melodies that truly connect, particularly given his age.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to grow my roster with one of the country’s brightest voices and to be part of the team that will take Wilson’s career to the global stage,” he said.

“His incredible work ethic and sheer talent has never failed to astound me,” he added.

Select Music’s Rob Giovannoni said the agency was extremely excited to be working with the artist, someone he believes has “a huge future in front of him”.

Blackley said signing with THAA Records was an absolute dream come true.

“I have so much respect for Aidan and Rhett McLaren and their A&R skills and just as people. I feel really honoured to have the support and belief of such an amazing group of individuals,” he said.

“I’m just as excited to be working with the amazing team at Select Music. It means a great deal to have their support alongside Nathan Gunn from Ecstatic! Management and I can’t wait for the journey ahead.”

He said his single ‘Home’ was written about being in a state of transience within himself.

“Battling with anxiety about the state of my ego and creative motivation, I had to create a mantra within myself about reconnecting with the true reason behind why I play music and why I want to express myself through it,” he said.

“This song is about saying goodbye to my ego, and grieving the parts of myself that I’d lost on the way.”
