Uncharted: Ed Sheeran, Khalid, Alison Wonderland

Uncharted: Ed Sheeran, Khalid, Alison Wonderland

This week in UnchartedEd Sheeran‘s new single is a sure-fire commercial hit and Aussie DJ Alison Wonderland puts forward another strong pop number.

Ed Sheeran – ‘Happier’ (WMA)

Ed Sheeran is our automatic selection to the lead the charge to radio this week. While the latest offering ‘Happier’ may not have the same hype of previous Sheeran singles, that hasn’t phased commercial who are ever-hungry for more of the British hitmaker. ‘Happier’ has already gleaned support from KIIS, smooth and multiple Hit stations as the single looks to match the stature of Sheeran’s extended checklist of radio hits.

  Khalid ft. Ty Dolla $ign & 6LACK – ‘OTW’ (RCA/SME)

With five nominations at the upcoming Billboard Music Awards, Khalid’s purple patch is extending well into 2018. Now, the rapper has teamed up with Ty Dolla $ign and 6LACK on new single ‘OTW’. The track – which takes its name from the millennial phrase “on the way” – offers great crossover potential for both alt and commercial radio. The 20-year-old has already discredited the notion that he’s a one-hit wonder, scoring four singles on the 2018 Q1 Hot 100 chart (‘Silence’, ‘Young, Dumb & Broke’, ‘Love Lies’ and ‘Saved’), and he looks likely to add one more to that list with this release.

Alison Wonderland – ‘Easy’ (EMI)

DJ Alison Wonderland has finally found her commercial groove with the release of sophomore album Awake. With lead single ‘Church’ peaking at #41 on the Hot 100, TMN’s Breakers chart is telling us there’s another potential hit on the way. Creeping in at #9, ‘Easy’ is a glossy pop track that will compel MDs for their adds this week as the Aussie continues to make inroads at commercial.
