Tones And I debuts at #1 on ARIA Albums Chart

Tones And I has claimed her first #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with her debut album Welcome To The Madhouse.

Outselling the likes of Olivia Rodrigo, John Mayer, Doja Cat and Pop Smoke to take out this week’s top spot on the charts, Welcome To The Madhouse marks another achievement for the local pop heavyweight, who also becomes the 10th Australian artist to land at number #1 on the charts this year.

Tones And I is also joined on top of the ARIA Charts by her fellow local breakout The Kid LAROI, with his Justin Bieber-assisted single ‘Stay’ managing to stay on top of the ARIA Singles Chart for two weeks.

It’s the first time two Australian acts have held top positions on the ARIA Albums and Singles charts since May 2021, when Amy Shark’s Cry Forever and The Kid LAROI’s ‘Without You’ had the privilege of sitting at #1 on the charts.

Reacting to her latest victory, Tones And I thanked her fans for their support, promising them that she was far from going away just yet.

“Wow wow wow. Thank you so much Australia for your ongoing love and support, I am blown away,” Tones And I said.

“I can’t bloody believe it, I will not be quitting any time soon.”

ARIA CEO Annabelle Herd also congratulated Tones And I on her latest chart achievement, saying that the news marks “an incredible result for Tones And I, and for Australian music”.

“As the world’s number one songwriter in 2020 and after ruling the singles charts in 30 countries, Tones epitomises the unbelievable credibility of our home-grown recording industry,” Herd remarked.

“The chart-topping Welcome To The Madhouse continues an incredible string of successes that we are proud to champion.”

Featuring singles ‘Cloudy Day’ and ‘Fly Away’, Welcome To The Madhouse arrives two years after the release of Tones And I’s breakout hit ‘Dance Monkey’, which dominated charts abroad and held an unprecedented 24-week stint at #1 at home.

‘Dance Monkey’ was subsequently named as the world’s most-Shazamed song and Spotify’s second most-played track of 2020, with its success seeing Tones ranked as the world’s top songwriter of 2020 by British music administration platform Blokur.

Welcome To The Madhouse was also involved in a recent NFT bundle from Australian music publisher The Brag Media, with each NFT bundle being credited as an album sale on the ARIA Albums Chart.
