Three must-see acts at Yours and Owls Festival 2017

Charts & New Music Editor

Wollongong’s annual Yours and Owls Festival kicks off this long weekend.2017 sees the festival casting it’s net wider than ever before to include a greater variety of artists, from Aussie electro all the way to post-hardcore.

With an endless string of lineup announcements each making the crammed bill even more loaded than before, TMN has gone ahead and hand-picked three unmissable acts to take the stageat this weekend’s festivities.

Northlane

The metalcore department is well and truly covered with Sydney outfit Northlane headlining the Out Of Space Stage on Saturday night with a blistering one-hour set. Off the back of their latest studio album Mesmer, the quintet are back to their roots and heavier than ever.

Expect to have your ears ringing for days as the group thrashes out key numbers from their new album as well as old favourites like ‘Dispossession’ and ‘Dream Awake’ that will surely get the mosh pit into full swing.

Cash Savage & The Last Drinks

If a folk/blues experience with splashes of fiddles and banjos is what you’re after, look no further than Cash Savage & The Last Drinks. Led fearlessly by one of the brightest lights in rock’n’roll Cash Savage, the crew will be playing the Out Of Space Stage at 2:10pm on Sunday.

The Guardiannamed Savage “the best rock star we have right now” and that’s exemplified through her presence on stage. The Melbournian’s gutsyvocals is something to behold, not to mention theintricate instrumental undertones on display.

Further to their appearance at Yours and Owls, the group will play Melbourne’s inaugural Peel Street Festival in November.

Moonbase

Also billed to the Out Of Space Stage on Sunday is breakthrough hip hop artist Moonbase. Bred out of the Sydney grimy warehouse scene, Moonbase’s beats invoke a primal and combatative vibe with gritty bass and polished percussion.

Moonbase packed out the Mix Up Stage at Splendour In The Grass 2016. He’ll begin his set at 8:40pm this weekend and will have the crowd bouncing in no time.
