The X Factor finale sets a new viewing record

This week’s grand final of The X Factor, which saw Dami Im crowned winner, drew 3.66 million viewers, according to OzTam. 2.43 million of these were metro viewers. It allowed Seven Network to dominate Monday night with 35.6% of audience share. It was the show’s best figures for its grand finals, with 250,000 more tuning in from last year.

By comparison, The Voice’s winner episode drew 2.3 million metro viewers to Channel Nine. The two-hour The X Factor show, with live sets from Katy Perry and Guy Sebastian in the run up to the big announcement, averaged 2.251 million.

On Sunday night, The X Factor got 2.02 million metro viewers when One Direction played live. It was the most watched program in the 25-55 demographic, and pushed Nine’s Australia’s Got Talent down to 712,000, and ninth in that demographic.
