The Falls sign worldwide deal with Verve Records

Australian duo The Falls have signed a worldwide deal with legendary US label Verve Records.

Universal Music Group’s Verve Records is traditionally a jazz label, although recent signings, such as Sarah McLachlan, suggest a slight shift from this focus.

Verve’s Chairman David Foster said of The Falls : “Their perfect blend of harmonies and heartfelt songs represent the very best kind of contemporary folk-based music. I couldn’t be happier to welcome them to the Verve Music Family.”

George Ash, President of Universal Music Asia Pacific and head of Universal Music Australia, added: “We’ve been fans of The Falls since we first heard Home so all of us at Universal Australia are thrilled to have one of Australia’s most promising new acts join the UMG family.  The Falls create beautiful music from the soul that has sent us all into a frenzy of joy.”

The duo are currently touring the US, and are set to perform at SXSW, before hitting the festival circuit.
