Sydney’s Studio 301 confirms relaunch date

Sydney’s Studio 301 has announced that it’ll relaunch for business after an extensive multi-million dollar refit on Thursday February 22.

The facility, which opened in 1926, has been closed since mid-December in thelead up to the re-opening.

It will have three recording studios, three mastering suites, five productions suites and a number of spaces for collaborations.

It is not known if the renovations have got rid of the J.B. spray-painted on one of the studio walls by Justin Bieber.

Bieber is one of the many international names who have recorded there.

Prince and Kanye West booked out the whole complex while they put finishing touches on their upcoming releases in between concerts.

West’s session ran a marathon 36 hours, while the Sydney technicians exchanged latest recordings with those from New York’s Electric Ladyland.

Others have been U2, Bob Dylan, Elton John, David Bowie, Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Nicks and Lady Gaga, while the Australian contingent included Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil, Flume, Silverchair, INXS and Powderfinger.

In 2015, Studio 301 was acquired by London recording house Abbey Road Institute.
