Six Aussies in the first round of SXSW acts
Six Australian acts were announced this morning among the first 200 artists to play South By Southwest in Austin, Texas, next year: Vance Joy (Melbourne), The Swiss (Sydney), The Chevelles (Perth), Money For Rope (Melbourne), People of Letters (Melbourne) and London-based Sydney singer songwriter Josef Salvat.
Not surprisingly, the largest amount of acts stem from the United States, including Urge Overkill, Rodney Crowell, Los Lonely Boys, Wilco side project The Autumn Defense and Blank Tapes. The British contingent includes Bring Me The Horizon, Eliza Doolittle, London Grammar, Glass Animals, Lene Lovich Band, Jungle and Casual Sex.
Acts from other countries include Japan’s Crossfaith, Norway’s Dråpe, Taiwan’s Bugs of Phonon, Canada’s Hey Ocean! – and others from Brazil, Colombia, Iceland, Sweden, Mexico, Spain, Israel, South Korea, Germany, Chile, Belgium, St. Lucia, Netherlands, Denmark, Russia, Croatia and Indonesia
The 29th film, interactive and music event takes place March 7 to 16, 2014, with the music component beginning on March 11.
