’Sandstorm’ charts again after 13 years thanks to Peking Duk

Canberra DJ/producer duoPeking Duk have had quite an eventful year. They’ve had two hit singles this year alone with High –released earlier in the year peaking at #11 on the TMN Hot 100, #5 on the ARIA Singles chart and #2 on the ARIA Dance chart – andTake Me Overfeaturing fellow Canberra artist Safia – which currently sits at #16 on the TMN Hot 100, #2 on the ARIA Dance chart and #6 on the ARIA Singles chart. On top of all of this they were recently signed to Sony Music Entertainment in partnership with RCA records and toured the country with EDM festival Stereosonic.

It was during this festival circuit the band played 1999 trance music hit Sandstorm by Darude. The track has already had plenty of significance in internet culture this past year but the push from the well-established duo has been enough to bring the track back into relevance again with notable chart figures popping up for the first time in over thirteen years. Last Saturday’s new ARIA Dance chart saw the track re-enterat #20, the first time it’s been seen in the chart since its last appearance at #91 on March 19, 2001. The track's current peak on the ARIA Dance chart is at #18, which was achieved on the July 31, 2000. It currently sits at #23 on the Australian iTunes Dance chart, just four positions below Peking Duk’s High.

It's entirely possible that the track will climb even higher in coming weeks, hitting new high points for the Finnish producer.
