PlayStation Music set for May 30 Australian launch

The PlayStation Music service in partnership with Spotify will be launched in Australia on May 30, according to a tweet from the official PlayStation France Twitter account.

Australia will be one of 41 countries that get the service on the day, including the US, UK, Canada, Brazil, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Chile, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Switzerland, Taiwan and Turkey.

PlayStation Music replaces Music Unlimited which closed yesterday (March 29) after allowing gamers to stream and purchase music onto their PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. It was the latest example of hardware companies realising that the likes of Spotify and Rdio could do streaming services better.

PlayStation Music allows users to manage their Spotify tracks and playlists on their consoles, listen to Spotify tracks if they’re playing on PS4, and pay for Spotify through their PlayStation Network (PSN) account.
