Gin Wigmore
Blood To Bone
(ISLAU/UMA) Out June 26

New Zealand soul-pop chanteuse Gin Wigmore is back with her third studio album,Blood To Bone. Lead single New Rush brings Wigmore’s smoky, soul-wrenching voice to the forefront and instantly reminds us what we’ve been missing.Like the gritty album imagery, expect the songs to be darkly texturedwith an alt-pop feel – due in part to her collaboration with Mercury Prize-winner Charlie Andrews (whose credits include Alt-JandMatt Corby).

The album was recorded in Los Angeles, and co-produced by Wigmore herself.Speaking about the process, Wigmoresays, “spending time with Charlie has opened my mind in ways unimaginable and truly set the pace for the album… The whole idea for this album was to write songs and rhythms that pushed far beyond what I had ever tried before.”

Album cut New Rush has already reached Top 10 in the NZ charts, boosted by a live performance on The X Factor NZ. Wigmorehas previously toured with Jimmy Barnes, and as a sign of her versatility, appeared on the 2013 Warped Tour.
