McInnes, Yaniz, join Pandora A/NZ

Pandora Internet Radio Australia and New Zealand bolstered its senior management team, with former Adshel CMO Nicole McInnes as Marketing Manager and Taly Yaniv from its New York office as Advertising Operations Director. Former Marketing Manager Hazel Savage moves to the role of Industry Relations Manager. Pandora’s two year old local operation now has 30 staffers. Managing Director Jane Huxley said, “The Pandora business in Australia and New Zealand is growing at an exceptionally fast rate. Our business partnership portfolio continues to expand, particularly in areas of auto and consumer electronic devices, and our registered listener base now exceeds two million across A/NZ.”

James Grove heading to UK

After eight years with ARN James Grove is moving to the UK, Radio Today said. Currently Assistant Content Director/MD and announcer with Gold 104 Melbourne, he departs on December 5 to join Bauer Media in Manchester.

New team for Sydney’s GoodGod Small Club

Sydney’s GoodGod Small Club GM Jimmy Sing has a new team. Maggie Collins is Bookings & Production Manager. She was in Brisbane on radio (triple j, 4ZZZ), managing (DZ Deathrays, John Steel Singers) and booking (Fans Group). DJ and Heaps Decent co-founder Andrew Levins is Music Director. Meg Williams, co-director of management /PR firm Spark & Opus is Communications and PR Coordinator. Departing booker Adam Lewis is now Manager of Entertainment at Opera Bar in Circular Quay.

Rod Henshaw back to Canberra

Rod Henshaw is back in Canberra from Queensland to work as floater and weekend presenter at 2CC.

Names behind Melbourne’s Alex Theatre St Kilda

The Melbourne arts and entertainment hub opening in February on the site of the old George Cinemas in Fitzroy Street, St Kilda, will be called Alex Theatre St Kilda. Its founder Aleksander Vass, who invested $1 million in the project, is Managing Director. General Manager is Richard Fitzgerald, a former GM of Her Majesty’s Theatre. It includes two state of the art theatres (of 500- and 330-capacity) for use as a live music venue, theatre or cinema rooms. A 250-seater space is for rehearsals or a black box theatre.

Shane Healy exits 3AW

Shane Healy departed Melbourne talk radio 3AW after 12 years as GM. He told the Melbourne Age "seismic changes" gave him difficult days behind the scenes and dramas involving presenters Rex Hunt and Derryn Hinch

Changes at Hills Audio

Australian pro audio company Hills Audio COO Brad Newton left by “mutual decision”, according to a statement from the company. Ken Dwyer, whose pro audio supplier Audio Products Group it acquired in June for a reported $15 million, recently left after his three month consultancy deal expired.

Beatnik Café to spread beatnik spirit

Al Brown and Carron Tordof set up Beatnik Café in Cooma in the Snowy Mountains which in the spirit of its name, will hold live music nights, open mics and poetry readings.

AIMIA names new CEO

Interactive industry body AIMIA tapped its Victorian State President Rob Wong (iNC Digital Network, Stylehunter, Catalogue Central) to take over its CEO role, left vacant after David Holmes quit ten months into the job.
