Mushroom Music to rep NY’s Atlas Music Publishing in ANZ

Mushroom Music Publishing will administer New York based Atlas Music Publishing in Australia and New Zealand, in a new partnership confirmed overnight.

Atlas was launched in 2013 by CEO Richard Stumpf with a capital of $400 million as a full service company.

He said at the time that there was a niche to be filled by smaller independent publishers to provide the sort of personalised service that he claimed major publishers were no longer providing.

Atlas’ roster includes heavyweights as Eddie and Alex Van Halen, Counting Crows, John Legend and Warren Haynes of Govt Mule, and emerging acts as Sydney duo The Falls aka Melinda Kirwin and Simon Rudston Brown, and Ireland’s Daniel and the Lion

Its songwriters include Coyle Girelli who’s written for Peking Duk (and appeared numerous times onstage with them as a guest vocalist), Westlife and Robin Schulz.

Los Angeles-based German music producer/songwriter Tobias “Toby” Gad co-wrote John Legend’s biggest hit ‘All of Me’ and for co-wrote and produced ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ by Fergie and ‘If I Were a Boy’ by Beyoncé.

Denmark-born Alex Vargas had a viral hit some years ago with ‘Solid Ground’ and currently working on a solo record.

Strumpfsays, “Reuniting with Ian (James, Managing Director), Zoe (Coverdale. Head of International) and the Mushroom team is like a return to family.

“These guys know the work it takes to get things done.”

Ian James added, “Personal relationships in the music industry are as important as ever and having a fond history with not only Rich, but a number of his Atlas staff, has been integral to our paths crossing again.

“As publishing companies continue to be bought and sold, it’s vital that the remaining independents unite to strengthen our position in what is a very competitive market place.”

Investors in Atlas Music include Goldman Sachs Managing Director Michael Dawley, merchant bank Sword, Rowe & Company, Virgo Investment Group, Italian publishers Sugar Music and CamJazz and adland music producer Theo Aronson’s Aronson Media Ventures.
