Katchafire sign distribution deal with Ingrooves Music Group

Katchafire sign distribution deal with Ingrooves Music Group

New Zealand reggae veterans Katchafire have inked a major distribution deal with Universal Music Group’s Ingrooves imprint.

The deal will see Ingrooves handle the Australian and New Zealand distribution of the band’s catalogue, and will also incorporate a series of new global single releases.

News of the distribution agreement coincides with the release of Katchafire’s new single ‘Whaingaroa’, written and performed by percussionist Leon Davey and co-produced alongside Maori legend Tiki Taane.

Nina Rabe-Cairns, Ingrooves Music Group country manager for Australia and New Zealand, welcomed the iconic Kiwi group to the independent company’s distribution roster.

“It’s a proud moment for us to welcome reggae legends Katchafire to Ingrooves,” Rabe-Cairns said.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Katchafire’s iconic catalogue and to be introducing their new material to a growing global audience.”

Katchafire’s manager Mikki Sellton reflected on the deal and said that the band are looking forward to releasing new music as part of the Ingrooves roster.

“We are excited to be working in partnership with the Ingrooves team on the forthcoming singles series,”, Sellton added.

“First up, we have the new track from Leon and produced by the amazing Tiki Taane that has been in the works for some time.”

Katchafire is scheduled to visit Australia to perform at the Gold Coast’s Promiseland Festival on October 2, with further Australian dates to be announced shortly.
