Independent Chart Wrap: Meg Mac debuts at #1

A new debut takes the top of the Carlton Dry Independent Singles chart this week with Meg Mac’s Never Be taking the top spot. It pushes last week’s #1 debut Sia’s Fire Meet Gasoline down to #2. Aside from Mac’s top debut there are no new movers in the Top 10 withlittle movement taking place within the bracket. The Jungle Giants take a new peak at #13 with Kooky Eyes while a re-entry comes in at #17 from Chet Faker’s Gold.

It’s a stable Top 2 on the Radio Play chart with Meg Mac’s Never Be and Big Scary’s Organism at #1 and #2 respectively. Kita Alexander’s My Own Way returns to the Top 5 at #3 from #6 on it’s tenth week in the chart, as does Jenny Broke The Window’s Black Skeleton at #5 from #9 on its fourth week in the chart. Plenty of movement back into the Top 10 from some older tracks this weekwith Sheppard’s Geronimo entering at #6 from #13. Sia’s Elastic Heart moves up to #8 from #16 while Boo Seeka’s Deception Bay comes in at #9 from #12, falling short of previous peak #8. The last mover into the Top 10 is I Know Leopard’s Close My Eyes at #10 from #17. One new debut makes it in at #20 this week with Seth Sentry’s Dumb, the latest track to be taken from his #2 ARIA Charting album Strange New Past.

The Top 2 of the Albums chart remains the same as well this week with Gurrumul’s The Gospel Album holding #1 and Sia’s1000 Forms Of Fear maintaining the hold on #2. The Jungle Giants enjoy the highest new debut at #3 with Speakerzoid, though Caulfields Outcast debuts in the Top 10 as well, earning a strong #8 debut. Courtney Barnett ees a re-entry in the Top 20 with The Double EP: A Sea Of Split Peas at #17.
