Iggy Azalea makes surprise appearance at inaugural Jumanji festival in Melbourne

The Melbourne show of the inaugural Jumanji hip-hop festival received a surprise guest last Friday – when NSW-born US-based Iggy Azalea joined long time friend US rapper Tyga at the Showground.

She worked the packed crowd sporting white hot pants, off the shoulder shirt and the latest in Jimmy Choo knee-high boots, and embraced Tyga warmly.

Iggy, who’s back in the US charts with ‘Savior’ featuring Quavo, appeared recently with Tyga on the American show Total Request Live.

Asked about how the last few years have been tough for her personally and professionally, Azalea replied, “Life isn’t fair. We make our own mistakes.

“In retrospect I think everyone has things they wish they could have done differently second time around.”

“I’m just happy to be in the place I’m in.

“When you’re an artist and you go through things, it’s almost like a blessing because you have so much stuff to talk about and write about.”

The Iggy appearance was a plus for Jumanji’s promoters.

Hours before the show began at 3pm, DJ Mustard informed them he was not coming and threw the shade at them.

“Sorry Australia I was excited to come to Australia and see everyone in Melbourne and Sydney because it’s been a while since my last visit,” he tweeted.

“But unfortunately the business behind this show wasn’t handled properly in time for me to make it there.”

They responded: “The promoters are disappointed for the fans that DJ Mustard has decided not to travel to Australia and is confused by his comments and decision to not attend.”

Earlier the festival was dissed on social media for not having any female artists on the bill next to the likes of Lil Wayne, Metro Boomin’, Ace Hood, Madeintyo and Wale.

But they explained that a number of major female names were approached, but were either not available or asked for too much money.

Police reported that 17 people were arrested at the Melbourne show in relation to drugs.
