Five albums up for QLD Album of the Year

Five albums up for QLD Album of the Year

Five albums are up for the Queensland Music Awards’ Album of the Year.

Released since the previous 2013 QMAs, they are Violent Soho’s Hungry Ghost, HITS’ Hikikomori, Velociraptor’s Velociraptor, Blank Realm’s Grassed Inn and John Steel Singers’ Everything’s a Thread.

Awards organisers QMusic also unveiled the nominees for the three BOQ People’s Choice categories. These cover Most Popular Female, Most Popular Male and Most Popular Group. QMusic said votes are encouraged from all around Australia. Voters go in the draw to win a double pass to two nights at BigSound Live and a double pass to this year’s Queensland Music Awards.

Voting is held over three weeks at www.qldmusicawards.com.au/boqpca. Winners of Week One and Week Two face off in the final heat in Week Three.

Week 1 (voting from Monday February 23 – Midnight Sunday March 1)

Most Popular Female: Sahara Beck, Thelma Plum, Airling, Emma Louise.

Most Popular Make: Karl S Williams, Jeremy Neale, Danny Harley.

Most Popular Group: HITS, Blank Realm, Halfway, Sampology, Violent Soho, Sheppard, DZ Deathrays.

Week 2 (voting from 9am Monday March 2 – midnight Sunday March 8)

Most Popular Female: MKO, Bec Laughton, Jackie Marshall, Eves The Behavior.

Most Popular Male: Bobby Alu, Bernard Fanning, Lawrence English.

Most Popular Group: The Amity Affliction, Velociraptor, Dubmarine, The Trouble With Templeton, DUNE RATS, Ball Park Music.

Voting for Week 3 is between 9am Monday March 9 and midnight Sunday 15.

The Queensland Music Awards are on March 30 at the Brisbane Powerhouse, presented by BOQ and Hutchinson Builders with support from APRA AMCOS.
