Familiar face tapped for IAB CEO role

Familiar face tapped for IAB CEO role

Former SCA Chief Digital Officer Vijay Solanki, has been nabbed as the new CEO of IAB.

The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) is the peak trade association for online advertising in Australia. Think of it as the digitals space’s Commercial Radio Australia.

Digital advertising is in massive growth with interactive advertising currently accounting for over 41 percent of Australia’s annual advertising industry, with digital advertising expenditure reaching $5.9 billion in calendar year 2015.

Vijay Solanki is not only a digital native but also has a strong background in commercial radio both here and overseas.

The Commercial Radio industry naturally dovetails into that digital economy in a big way as we know. Many networks have transformed from being just “radio” companies to being entertainment platform providers beyond an AM or FM signal. Those same networks also deliver music and content services like ARN’s iHeartRadio or SCA’s adventures with OMNY and the like. Each offering an opportunity to leverage potential advertising spends in the audio marketplace.

That audio marketplace also includes tech brands likeSpotify,RdioandPandorato name a few. Each gunning for a slice of that same advertising pie and a share of ears.

IAB is the one tasked with securing ratings and reporting to agencies including those who stream audio and provide net radio content.

Interesting times ahead.
