Priya Dewan Talks Gig Life Pro’s Global Networking ‘Mission’

The constantly-evolving music industry, an ocean of complexities, innovations and nuances, is, at times, as perplexing as Chris Nolan’s Tenet.

Gig Life Pro is on mission to connect and clarify.

Founded in 2019 by Singapore-based CEO Priya Dewan, Gig Life Pro was initially designed to hook-up Asia’s music market with the rest of the world.

Now, Gig Life Pro is on a global push, connecting the worldwide music industry with contacts in such markets as Australia, United States, Japan, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, the U.K. and elsewhere.

An experienced music professional who has cracked Billboard’s International Power Player, and 30 Under 30 Power Player lists, Dewan believes knowledge is a tool, one that should be shared.

“Gig Life Pro was built from decades of experience working in the U.S., U.K. and APAC, across a range of roles in our industry from manager, agent, label, distributor, and more,” Dewan tells The Music Network.

“Our mission,” she continues, “is to help other industry professionals and creatives build their careers through the networking and education tools that we have developed in our careers to foster a truly global music industry, where foreign markets and concepts are no longer ‘difficult’, just ‘different’, and when equipped with the right information and partners, anybody from anywhere can succeed wherever they put their efforts.”

Currently, its active membership tops 1,000 senior professionals, according to a statement, all of whom are subject to a “rigorous vetting and approval process” and include reps from Live Nation, The Orchard, Maho Rasop Festival, FUGA, Warner Music, Lonely Lands, Sony, Clockenflap Festival, Partisan, Ditto, SXSW and SXSW Sydney.

The GLP team numbers 10 employees, and includes chief creative officer Sarah Guppy, the Melbourne-based owner of marketing and PR agency This Much Talent Australia.

Dewan cut her teeth in indie-land, running the North American activities of the venerated U.K. label Warp Records, where she played a hand in Grizzly Bear’s top 10 debut on the Billboard 200 with Vecketamist.

Later, she returned to Singapore to launch booking agency and consulting specialist Feedback Asia, representing artists including CHVRCHES, Flying Lotus, Simian Mobile Disco, Bicep and Beach House.

More recently, Dewan served as VP of international marketing APAC and MD of Southeast Asia and South Korea for The Orchard, overing campaigns for the likes of BTS, TWICE, Stray Kids, ITZY, DPR, Eric Nam, CL, G.E.M., Son Tung MTP-E, James Reid, Shigga Shay.

Members can connect via desktop or the Gig Life Pro app, available on both Apple and Android devices. Visit giglifepro.com for more.
