Coles Radio will be playing only Australian music today

Coles Radio is ending Ausmusic month today with an all-Aussie playlist.

Programmed by NOVA Entertainment, the station has been ramping up the amount of Aussie music played all throughout the month in response to a campaign sparked by Jack River.

Coles has also added Aussie artists in other ways, including its Emily Soon Christmas campaign.

Coles has said it will be playing beloved Aussie artists like Kylie Minogue, INXS, Lime Cordiale and Sia, while also spotlighting up-and-coming acts like Kyle Pierce, Coterie and Jordie Ireland.

Back in August, Coles Radio committed to playing more Australian artists after River’s social media campaign pushing for Channel 7 to feature more local music during its Olympics coverage.

River wrote, “How good would it be to hear Aussie music in Coles, Woolies, Aldi, in banks, on hold, in stores and on ads being show to Australians for the next few months?”

Coles responded to River’s callout, telling The Music Network that the organisation was “moved by Jack River’s comments about the impact of COVID on the Australian music industry and have added even more amazing Aussie tracks to Coles Radio this week to show [their] support”.

Coles’ CMO, Lisa Ronson, said she understands how important it is to recognise Australian artists and showcase their work wherever Coles can.

“We have more Australian talent than ever coming through the airwaves and inspiring customers both in and out of the supermarket,” she said.

Coles Radio competitor Woolworths relaunched Woolies Radio, in partnership with ARN, earlier this month with a promise to play a notable amount of Australian music.
