Chart Wrap: Swift stems Ronson’s #1 debut

Hot 100

This week, Hozier holds #1 for his second week since taking the top spot earlier last year. Up at a new peak of #2 is Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk featuring Bruno Mars which after a four-week lock on #3 has finally made some leeway. After an incredibly high debut last week at #10, OMI’s Cheerleader now climbs to #4 and should break the Top 3 come next week’s chart if this airplay stays consistent. Up at #9 from #17 is Calvin Harris’ Pray To God featuring HAIM, his second Top 10 entry for 2015, with his track Outside featuring Ellie Goulding only just leaving the Top 10 this week falling to #15 from #7. Also making a Top 10 debut this week is Clean Bandit & Jess Glynne’s Real Love, the first single from them to hit the Top 10 since 2014’s Rather Be, which peaked at #1 earlier in March.

Movement-wise, this week sees Taylor Swift’s Style jump from #58 to #21, Robin Schulz’s Sun Goes Down lands at #27 from #51, Mashd N Kutcher’s Do It Now sets a new peak at #45 up from #60 and Sia’s Elastic Heart leaps to #17 from #62, a total of 45 positions making it this week’s most moved track. Three new debuts take place within the Top 50 this week, the first form Hayden James’ Something About You which enters at 46 –it is also last week’s most added song to radio –entering at #41 is Blonde’s I Loved You featuring Melissa Steel, and Kelly Clarkson’s Heartbeat Song enters at #37.

ARIA Singles

Following mid-week predictions, OMI’s Cheerleader takes #1 on the ARIA Singles chart this week, up from #3 after just four weeks in the chart. This move pushes Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk featuring Bruno Mars down to #2;Ronson now holds #2 on both the airplay and sales chart this week. Up at #5 from her #8 debut is Sia’s Elastic Heart which is still gaining plenty of traction and has the opportunity to climb even further up the Top 10. The Avener’s Fade Out Lines breaks the Top 10 at #8 from #14 and Calvin Harris’ Pray To God featuring HAIM manages to do the same, entering at #10 from #26.A few debuts this week likely to climb in coming weeks are from Tinashe’s 2 On featuring Schoolboy Q at #34, G.R.L’s Lighthouse at #38 and Maroon 5’s Sugar at #39.

ARIA Albums

Taylor Swift takes #1 again this week with 1989 retaking the top spot. This of course means that Mark Ronson’s Uptown Special misses out on a #1 debut, entering at #2 –still nothing to be sniffed at. Coming in at a close #3 is the latest from Fall Out Boy with American Beauty/American Psycho. The two debuts push Ed Sheeran’s X back down to #4 in what is now its 31st week in the ARIA Albums chart. Above & Beyond’s We Are All We Need also sees a strong debut, entering at #11, as does Joey Bada$$’s B4.DA.$$ at #17 and Enter Shikari’s The Mindsweep at #19.
