Brunswick Hotel forced to close ‘indefinitely’ due to flood damage

The Brunswick Hotel has been forced to close until further notice, after flood damage was caused by a fire hydrant outside the Melbourne venue.

Thehydrant was compromised whena car mounted the curb outside the venue, breaking the fire hydrant and flooding the building.

“Due to some idiot mounting the kerb and flooding the venue from above with a fire hydrant, The Brunswick Hotel will be closed until further notice,” posted the venue on Facebook.

“This has caused flood and structure damage to the building.”

“Any bands or functions will be put on hold and you’ll be contacted soon to apologise.”

Stafffound water dripping into the venue’s beer garden like a fountain in the early hours of Thursday morning last week, manager David Frankie Cudmore told theHerald Sun.

“I was at home and got a call and got out of bed to find people dancing under the water,” Cudmore said.

“The stage area with all the PA equipment was flooded and the ceiling collapsed in a few places.”

The venue also postedan image of its staff, calling for anyone with work available for the forseeable future to get in contact.
