BMG boosts electronic music roster with Running Touch signing

Multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter and vocalist Running Touch has signed a worldwide music publishing deal with BMG.

The elusive and anonymous artist from Melbourne has earned himself a reputation as not only an exceptional producer in just a two short years, but also an outstanding live performer, songwriter, lyricist, singer and all-round creative.

During his debut year in 2015, Running Touch was named as the number seven Artist To Watch for 2016 by inthemix, placed in the 50 Most Played Acts on triple j Unearthed, dubbed as the Best Kept Secret in Australian Dance Music by Buzzfeed and had his breakout track ‘What’s Best For You’ listed as one of the Top 100 Tracks of 2015 by inthemix.

This year has seen Running Touch release his debut EP A Body Slow, hit number one on the iTunes Electronic Album chart and number nine overall, as well as sell out a 15-date Australia and New Zealand headline tour, huge festival slots and support tours with Odesza, ZHU, SAFIA and more.

With a musical background stemming from the hardcore scene, Running Touch also serves as the founding member and main studio writer of one of Australia’s top breakthrough hardcore bands Ocean Grove, whose album earlier this year was chosen as triple j’s Album of the Week and debuted at number five on the ARIA Album Charts.

According to BMG Australia managing director Heath Johns, Running Touch’s signing bolsters the label’s already-strong electronic signings.

“From our point of view, Australian electronic music is, in a lot of way, the toast of the world at the moment. We’d like to think we are fairly well-represented in that genre, and we may even have a couple more electronic signings over the next couple of months,” he told TMN.

“The way I would consider our signing strategy across publishing and records is that we’re an equal opportunity employer in that regard. We’re responsive to people that are making the type of art that they’re excited about, and we just want to help them tell that story on a grander level.

Running Touch added, “I’m immeasurably proud to have joined what is not only an incredible company with an amazing team, but a family of some of my idols. I’m looking forward to having an avenue and a partner to help me pursue my endeavours in all genres and learn as much as I can along the way”.

Running Touch joins a BMG roster of Australian talent that also includes LDRU, Peking Duk (ex. ANZ), SAFIA, AC/DC, Wolfmother, Lance Ferguson, The Living End, Meg Mac, The Easybeats, San Cisco, Drapht, Montaigne, Matt Corby, Jesse Porsches, Tigerilla, Tame Impala (ex. ANZ), Dead Letter Circus, Nicole Millar, Wave Racer and The Cat Empire.
