Voting opens for Australia’s largest peer-voted music award

Voting for Australia’s largest peer voted music award, the APRA Song of the Year, is now open to APRA members.

Now in its 26th year, the Award will once again recognise the work of songwriters and award one entrant with a prize pack worth $10,000, just for voting. It includes:

  • A Live 9 Suite compliments ofAbleton
  • Deltareturn airfare from Sydney, Australia to Los Angeles, USA
  • Standard Day Recording package atForbes Street Studios
  • Gibson Brandpackage including Les Paul Studio Tribute, Philips/Gibson Innovations Fidelio headphones and KRK/Gibson Pro-Audio Rokit 4 studio monitors
  • 2 tickets to the 2017 APRA Music Awards in Sydney

Previous APRA Song of the Year winners have included Tame Impala’sLet It HappenandFeels Like We Only Go Backwardswritten by Kevin Parker; Sia’sChandelierwritten by Sia and Jesse Shatkin; Vance Joy’sRiptidewritten by James Keogh and Gotye’sSomebody That I Used to Knowwritten by Wally de Backer and Luiz Bonfa.

To be eligible, songs must have first been released in the 12 months from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2016, and written principally by an Australian, or a New Zealand writer(s) living in Australia.

Votes are due byTuesday 17 January, 2017, and the winner will be announced at the 2017 APRA Music Awards.
