Amrap Chart Wrap: Royal Headache and Cold Chisel take out Community Radio Charts

The Amrap Metro and Amrap Regional Charts provide insight into what’s gaining airplay and attention on community radio. The charts show the top ten tracks ordered for airplay by community broadcasters through the Amrap’s AirIt music distribution service. This week sees Royal Headache debut at #1 in the Metro Chart while Cold Chisel hold onto the top spot in the Regional Chart.

Royal Headache received the most plays amongst metro stations this week, entering the Amrap Metro Chart at #1 with Another World. Their new LP High has gone down well with metro stations, dominating 4ZZZ Brisbane’s Top 20 and 2ser Sydney’s SERvin’ Up! list, taking out feature record at RTR FM in Perth and PBS Melbourne and album of the week at both Triple R Melbourne and FBi Radio Sydney. Listen to their guitarist Lawrence Hall guest program The Bridge on FBi Radio, playing songs by punk bands that most influenced him growing up in Sydney and explaining the significance of Petersham water tower. Watch a live performance of the song filmed during their recent US tour featured via Amrap Pages on Edge Radio Hobart’s website. The track has received additional airplay in regional and metro areas alike at stations across the country. The list includes Norfolk Island Radio, 2XX Canberra, Hills Radio Adelaide, Valley FM in QLD, King Island Community Radio in TAS, Gove FM in NT, Tjuma Pulka FM in WA, Triple H, Yass FM, 2GLF and Bay FM in NSW, as well as 3MDR, Apple FM, Voice FM, 3RPC, UGFM and 3SCB in VIC.

Cold Chisel continue their strong run in the Amrap Regional Chart, taking the top spot for the fourth week running with Lost. Watch the official film clip as featured via Amrap Pages on station websites including HFM 107.3 in WA, 97.9 FM in VIC, TYGA FM in TAS, 4ZZZ and Gin Gin’s Own in QLD as well as Port Stephens FM and Nambucca Valley Radio in NSW.

Matt Corby has entered the Amrap Metro Chart at #2 with his a capella single Monday. Listen to his interview on Arvos with Sweetie and Shag last week, revealing how less is sometimes more and why he named the single after the worst day of the week. The track has received airplay across the country at stations including Noosa Community Radio in QLD, 2XX FM Canberra, Hills Radio and WOW FM in SA, 2SEA and TLC FM in NSW, as well as JOY 94.9, SYN, Main FM, 3RPC, NRG FM, Gippsland FM, 3WAY FM and Casey Radio in VIC.

Mia Dyson is tearing up both charts, taking #2 and #4 in the Amrap Regional and Metro Charts respectively with her latest single Tearing up the Lawn. The raw track has received airplay in every state and territory at stations including Havey Community Radio in WA, TYGA FM in TAS, ArtSound FM Canberra, Gove FM in NT, 4ZZZ Brisbane, 3MDR and 97.9 FM in VIC, as well as Port Stephens FM, Nambucca Valley Radio, 2RRR and Bay FM in NSW.

The Paper Kites are another band enjoying success in both charts, taking #3 in the Regional and #10 in the Metro Chart with Revelator Eyes. Melbourne ensemble The Cactus Channel have jumped four spots to #4 in the Amrap Regional Chart with Kill the Doubt. The track is a hit with metro stations too, picking up FBi Radio rotation and a spot in SYN Melbourne’s Sweet 16. The hypno-funk single has received airplay all over at stations including 8CCC in NT, ArtSound FM Canberra, 5THE FM and Hills Radio in SA, Noosa Community Radio and Bay FM in QLD, as well as Bay FM, Nambucca Valley Radio, Monaro FM and 2NSB FM in NSW.

Dan Parsons makes his first appearance in the Amrap Metro Chart, taking #5 with It’s not Like I Need Somebody’s Help. The music video features some suitably smooth archival footage of kids skateboarding in the 70s.

Little May enter the Amrap Metro Chart at #6 with Seven Hours off their debut album For the Company. Their new record is going down well with stations in metropolitan areas, picking up Album of the Week on FBi Radio Sydney and a place in PBS Melbourne’s Top 10 records list. The girls popped in for a chat during FBi’s recent supporter drive, signing up a supporter, premiering a new song and playing another one live-to-air. Anna O has retained a spot in the Amrap Regional Chart, taking #7 with the immersive single Wish I Said. The track is a favourite at SYN Melbourne where it has picked up a spot in the Sweet 16. Brisbane singer-songwriter Robbie Miller is in his fourth week in the Amrap Regional Chart, taking the #8 spot with The Pain. Listen to his interview with The Hoist on SYN FM, recorded live from BIGSOUND, talking about his first experience as a showcasing artist and his upcoming solo EP. The track has received continued support from Miller’s hometown station 4ZZZ.

Adelaide and Brisbane via Melbourne trio Terrible Truths have joined the ranks of the Amrap Metro Chart at #7 with See Straight. Their well honed call and response vocals have earned them a spot in RTR FM Perth’s Sound Selection and rotation on FBi Radio Sydney.
