Max Lawrence signs with George Hatzigeorgiou for management
Rising Melbourne queer alt-pop artist Max Lawrence has tapped veteran PR and industry creative George Hatzigeorgiou for management.
The move comes as Lawrence plans for 2021 with a pair of EP releases and a return to the road with a performance-based live show.
Lawrence’s latest single, the new jack swing-flavoured ‘Speak In Tongues’, is inspired by a religious text about being possessed and translating that into wanting to kiss someone in a club. The song arrived with a video the singer made after amping up his skills in filmmaking and lighting during the lockdown.
Lawrence said, “This year has been crazy, but it’s given me the chance to work on heaps of new music, not to mention the resulting upskill in iso for my video production too!
“I’m so keen to be to working with George and to hit the ground running in 2021 with new releases and shows.”
The pair worked together on PR campaigns for ‘Speak In Tongue’s and Lawrence’s other 2020 single, ‘Gasoline’.
Hatzigeorgiou began in music as co-founder of street press titles HR and Lucky. Following that, he headed the publicity team for Shock Records and finally joined the Riot House PR firm ten years ago.
He explained, “When Max came to me for PR initially it took no time at all to realise his massive talent.
“He has all of the attributes required to make his mark as an enduring act in Australia and on the world stage.
“So I asked if I could be his manager and thankfully he said yes!”
