Tones And I isn’t the only musician from down under to represent on the world stage right now.

Aussie singer-songwriter Sam Fischer and breakout New Zealander Benee are breaking borders and riding charts around the globe with their respective earworms.

In the United Kingdom, Fischer’s hit ‘This City’ is currently #20 on the singles chart and Benee, real name Stella Rose Bennett, sits at #53 with ‘‎Supalonely’ after peaking at #18.

On Friday (May 22), both records were officially certified-Silver by The Official Charts Company, for track equivalent sales of 200,000 units and climbing.

Fischer’s breakout bop, written in 2016 and released almost two years later by Sony Music, has since taken on a life of its own thanks to radio’s new music tip sheet TikTok.

The LA-based musician recently performed ‘This City’ on The Late Late Show with James Corden as he continues to rocket up the sales and airplay charts at home and abroad.

The record has now achieved Gold status in Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

The swift ascent of Bennett can also be attributed to TikTok after ‘‎Supalonely’ spawned a viral dance challenge in March on the online video-sharing platform.

The song was written during a month-long trip to Los Angeles and has since achieved Platinum status in New Zealand, Gold status in Australia and now Silver in the UK.

It’s been a wild year for the 20-year-old, who signed a worldwide publishing deal with Sony/ATV this month after inking with Republic Records in 2018.

Last month Elton John described the 20-year-old musician as “an amazing young artist” who “writes really brilliantly” on his Apple Music radio show.

She also shared a laid-back version of ‘Supalonely’ in early May, created the night that New Zealand entered lockdown and released alongside a music clip made with a visualiser.

The accreditations for both Fischer and Bennett are driven by buoyant streaming numbers. On the Spotify Top 200 this week, ‘This City’ landed at #109 and ‎’Supalonely’ at #14.
