Vance Joy to support Taylor Swift on world tour

Former Editor

Vance Joy, aka James Keogh, will support Taylor Swift on the North American leg of her world tour.

The Melbourne artist, who is still riding the wake of Riptide, has watched the track’s lasting ubiquity maintain traction almost two years post-release. Last month Taylor Swift herself covered the track for BBC Radio1’s Live Lounge and from May to October next year will take Keogh on an extensive run of stadium and arena concerts where he will perform to over a million people.

Keogh has had a banner 2014 with his sophomore LP Dream Your Life Away debuting at #1 on the ARIA chart in September and peaking at #2 in Canada, #17 in the US and #20 in the UK. The LP’s lead single Mess Is Mine has just been certified Gold in Australia and on November 14 Keogh will perform Riptide on the US’ fifth longest running TV series of all time, The Today Show.

While Australian dates for Taylor Swift’s 1989 World Tour are still to be announced, it’s believed she’ll make her way Down Under next December.

According to Forbes, based on the 57 announced dates for North America and Europe, Swift could gross over US$160 million across roughly 1.8 million potential tickets and potentially US$200 million including the Australian dates.
