UMPG signs One Above to global deal

Universal Music Publishing Australia has signed a global music publishing deal with multi-platinum producer/songwriter One Above (a.k.a. Andrew Burford), it was announced today by Bob Aird, Universal Music Publishing Australia MD, and Heath Johns, Universal Music Publishing Australia Director of A&R.

OneAbove is widely known for his work as a co-writer and keyboardist with Austrailian hip-hop giants, Hilltop Hoods. His early collaborations with the fellow Adelaide act yielded the 3x platinum single, I Love Itfeat. Sia. One Above co-wrote three songs on their ARIA winning album, Walking Under Stars (Golden Era Records), which became the highest selling domestic album of 2014.

A talented multi-instrumentalist with a unique ability to fuse live instruments with progressive electronic elements, One Above has also co-written and produced singles for Illy (“Heard It All), Allday (“You Always Know The DJ”) and Chance Waters (“Young and Dumb” feat. Bertie Blackman) and is currently working on new material with such artists as of Drapht, Pez and Kylie Auldist. Also via his work with Hilltop Hoods and Allday, One Above also had two songs featured on the 2014 Triple J Hottest 100 songs list.

In making the announcement Johns said:“Andrew has quickly established himself as one ofAustralia’s leading producers and amassed an enviable list of songwriting credits in the process. We are excited to welcome such an ambitious, hardworking and creative writer to our roster and look forward to helping him expose his work to a global audience over the coming years."
