Support Act Ltd (SAL) CEO Joanna Cave has announced she is departing the organisation after five years.

Cave was the founding CEO of the organisation and has shaped the direction of the Support Act over that time.

Support Act is a unique Australian charity that provides crisis relief for artists and workers in the music industry.

The organisation recently announced a new 24-hour wellbeing service backed by Alberts’ Tony Foundation and Levi’s Australia, set up to assist those in the industry with mental health problems.

“Jo was SAL’s first CEO. For our small charity it was a massive step which has paid off in spades," said board of directors chair Sally Howland.

"A finer CEO she could not be. In the space of 5 short years she has driven a
business strategy that has improved our bottom line by 500%, increased grants funding to our service users 10 fold and modernised our service delivery to those who matter most, our service users.

"Financially astute, savvy and compassionate, Jo leaves a lasting legacy that provides a genuine foundation for the charity to continue to flourish."

Cave thanked her colleagues for their time and effort over her tenure, and said she’s looking forward to finishing up a few projects before she leaves.

"After five wonderful years helping to make Support Act the organisation artists and music workers need and deserve I have made the decision to return to my creative roots," she said.

"I will miss my wonderful colleagues but I leave knowing the organisation is in great shape for the future. Before I depart, I look forward to bedding down our new wellbeing service and presiding over a particularly special Music in the House".

People For Purpose’s Rachael McLennan has been appointed to assist with the search for Cave’s replacement, and further information about the process is available here.
