Stereosonic strikes five-year deal with Viagogo

Stereosonic, set to play five cities over November and December to a total of 360,000 people, has signed a five-year deal with global ticket marketplace Viagogo.

The deal comes at a time when the biggest number of global EDM fans are considering coming to Australia to catch the festival.

The festival’s John Curtin explained, “We looked at other services on offer and firmly believe that Viagogo offers the best in category, world-class ticketing service that we want to provide to all of our festival attendees. Viagogo is also providing us with a unique platform to help us reach the global electronic music fanbase and expand Stereosonic’s footprint across the world.”

Viagogo reports a 293% spike in ticket searches for the festival since it announced its bill last week, with 400 searches per minute coming from Australia. The company’s Alex Levenson reported a “47% more demand coming from Australian fans compared to last year.”

Given the strong bill for 2014 – including Calvin Harris, Tiesto, Diplo, Disclosure and Skrillex – there’s a 98% rise in searches from fans willing to travel to Australia to catch the EDM sets. The biggest interest comes from Japan, New Zealand, Hong Kong, the US and Singapore.

This year’s Stereosonic will see various global EDM brands come abroad. LA’s HARD, known for its Holy Ship! and HARD LA parties, is taking charge of Main Stage 2 on one day. Dutch brand Awakenings will showcase deep house and techno sounds while record labels Armada, OWSLA and Beatport will all make their arena debuts at the Australian festival.
