SoundCloud Go brings 125m songs to Sonos

SoundCloud Go is yet to be launched in Australia after it arrived five months ago, even though its German audio distribution platform itself has 2.059 million Australian users each month, according to ComScore data.

But when it does, there’ll be an extra attraction, especially for Australians who use Sonos speakers.

Through an overseas partnership, SoundCloud Go’s ad-free subscription music service will automatically provide its 125 million songs to those with Sonos speakers. It is the latest service to team with Sonos, alongside 60 major brands

But SoundCloud has a point of difference, in allowing users to upload their own music content including remixes, mash-ups, flips, bootlegs and covers. Although many of these are being increasingly pulled down to protect artists, SoundCloud’s 175 million monthly visitors still see it as the place to discover new artists and new music.

Sonos itself is responding further to its customers listening more to playlists and radio stations than ever before. Recently it updated the Sonos app into public beta, to streamline music queuing, the ‘Play All’ and ‘Shuffle’ commands and room grouping functionality and make the services more compatible with its products.
