Sony/ATV extends worldwide deal with hit producer Jack Antonoff, successful redefiner of female pop

Sony/ATV Music Publishing has extended its worldwide deal with multi-Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and producer Jack Antonoff.

It comes in the wake of a successful 2017 where was is credited with putting a new slant on 21st century pop through working with females.

In the past year, he had #1 hits with Taylor Swift, Lorde and P!nk, and Top 10 success with St. Vincent.

This weekend, he is up for two Grammy nominations, including Album Of The Year for Lorde’s Melodrama.

He is also nominated for Best Song Written For Visual Media for ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever (Fifty Shades Darker)’ a worldwide hit for Taylor Swift and Zayn Malik.

The new, long-term agreement covers Antonoff’s work with artists such as Swift, including his contributions to her 2017 album Reputation, Lorde, P!nk and Sara Bareilles as well as taking in future compositions.

Sony/ATV chairman and CEO Martin Bandier said: “Jack is a much-loved part of the Sony/ATV family and I couldn’t be prouder of his success, especially over this past year when he has enjoyed a run of No. 1 successes as well as receiving two Grammy nominations.

“He is one of the most talented and successful songwriters in music today, which is why so many of the world’s biggest artists want to work with him. I am very happy that Jack will continue to be part of our team.”

Antonoff said: “Sony/ATV has believed in me before I had any songs on the radio or any songs that sold more than a couple hundred copies. That means the world to me.”

Jack Antonoff is acclaimed for the way he gives a strong platform for the female acts he works with, without overshadowing their songs of, and embodying, independence and empowerment.

‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever’ became Antonoff’s first big songwriting hit of last year, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US where it sold 1.4 million copies, #3 in Australia where it was certified double platinum, and reaching the UK top five.

Further success with long-time collaborator Swift followed with ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ which the pair wrote, debuting at #1 on the Hot 100 last September and becoming her first ever UK singles chart-topper.

It is one of six Antonoff songs on Swift’s sixth studio album Reputation, which sold 1.2 million copies in its week of release in the US where it went on to become the biggest-selling album of the year.

As well as debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, it also topped charts in a number of other territories, including the UK, Canada and Australia.

Lorde’s Melodrama, which he co-wrote and produced, debuted at #1 in the US and also hit pole position in Australia, New Zealand and Canada

Pink’s Beautiful Trauma, of which he was one of the writers and producers, debuted at #1 in the US, Australia and the UK as well as Austria, Belgium, Canada, Holland, France, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland and Switzerland.

St. Vincent’s album MASSEDUCTAION, which he was the main songwriting collaborator on, debuted in the Top 10 on both sides of the Atlantic and entered the Top 20 in Australia.

At the same time, his own band Bleachers issued their thirdstudio set Gone Now, which became a Billboard Alternative and Rock Top 10 album and included the Alternative top three hit ‘Don’t Take The Money.

He has a joint venture with Sony/ATV called Rough Customer, which focuses primarily on growing his team of collaborators and partnering with artists.

Its first signing was the highly-acclaimed Canadian singer-songwriter Claire Boucher aka Grimes.
