Singles Report: Post Malone cements his status as a commercial artist

The Most Added chart was abit all over the place last week. Macklemore comes out ahead as the winner with ‘Good Old Days’ ft. Kesha, followed closely by Camila Cabello’s ‘Havana’ ft. Young Thug.

It’s perfect timing, really, with Macklemore’s performance at the NRL Grand Final taking place last weekend. He cleaned up the majority of commercial Hit Network stations, while also earning Hit regional adds where Camila didn’t.

Post Malone’s ‘rockstar’ ft. 21 Savage cements his credentials as a commercial artist and makes Australia the latest in a large list of countries to jump on board the new track. In fact, the track just hit #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart knocking Sam Smith’s ‘Too Good At Goodbyes’ to #4.

As ‘What About Us’ remains unmovable at the top of the TMN Hot 100, P!NK has even more cause for celebration following the launch of her new album Beautiful Trauma. Both KIIS and Nova remain resolute in their support of ‘What About Us’, with the track sitting at #1 on their respective spins charts.

Hit has transitioned from French Montana’s ‘Unforgettable’ ft. Swae Lee to Justin Bieber and Bloodpop’s ‘Friends’ as their #1 choice, while triple j get behind George Maple’s ‘Hero’. Meanwhile, Triple M have thrown their weight behind Gang Of Youths’ ‘Let Me Down Easy’.

It’s proving to be a tame week for new singles. While there are some seriously choice cuts from the likes of INDIIA and Vice, a good deal of the tracks hitting commercial are re-services.

That INDIIA track – it’s a real treat. An anonymous duo from Sweden working with the NEIKED collective, it’s a pretty damn friendly track for a debut effort. Vice’s ‘obsession’ is pleasant and features vocals from Jon Bellion, whose single ‘All Time Low’ was adored by commercial radio.
