Singles Report August 7

In this week’s Australian Singles Report, Dua Lipa is crowned Most Added To Radio despite only landing on22 stations, Harry Styles brings forth his next single, and the Hot 100 remains parked at the top.

Taken from her debut self-titled album, which dropped in early June, Dua Lipa’s ‘New Rules’ came out a clear #1 at radio last week. Although the track scored just 22 additions, they were in all the right places. Nova had it at the top of their network additions list, as did Ash London LIVE and both KIIS stations.

‘New Rules’ follows the success of previous single ‘Be The One’ and her feature spot on Martin Garrix’ ‘Scared To Be Lonely’. Lipa is yet to notch a #1, but given the uniform support from key players, it’s looking to be a likely Top 10 contender down the track.

Harry Styles is a cut above the rest with his latest single to radio ‘Two Ghosts’, taken from his 2017 self-titled album.

It’s a worthy follow-up to his record-breaking Hot 100 single ‘Sign Of The Times’ that had the highest debut in the chart’s history. It landed at #3 and remained there for three weeks, before slipping to #6. It currently sits at #44.

While Styles is the obvious choice at radio this week, there are still plenty of other good tracks hitting the airwaves, including new tunes from Lecrae, Pia Mia, and The Preatures.

Liam Payne and Niall Horan are stuck in a standoff on the Hot 100, assuming the same positions as last week with ‘Strip That Down’ ft. Quavo and ‘Slow Hands’ #1 and #2 repsectively.

Surprisingly, Shawn Mendes’ ‘There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back’ is still going strong at #4, helped on by strong support from KIIS. 14 of the track’s 15 weeks have been spent in the Top 10.

Further down the chart, Coldplay make themselves known with ‘Miracles (Some Special)’ featuring Big Sean – not to be confused with an earlier, non-album track titled ‘Miracles’. As this week’s #1 Heatseeker, it hits #56 from #85, a move of 29 places.
