Robbie Williams confirms Aussie tour in spring

Robbie Williams’ Let Me Entertain You tour will visit Australia in spring, the British singer confirmed in a video posting on his website.

"All the details will follow very soon on robbiewilliams.com," said Williams, who is sporting a return to the bleached blonde look on his current European and Middle Eastern dates which began last month in Madrid, Spain.

The Australian 2015 visit will take place as part of a run in September, October and November through Asia (beginning on September 23 at Hong Kong's AWE Arena) and New Zealand.

The video was shot during the Riga, Latvia stop. After the tour announcement, he broke into an excerpt of his 1997 hit Angels, accompanied by a Latvian choir.

Williams last toured Australia in 2014 to sell-out concerts on the Swings Both Ways trek. During the shows, he quipped about how his record sales have slid of late (“I’m an obese Justin Bieber”) and got his father Pete Conway to join him onstage for Do Nothin’ Til You Hear From Me. Conway is expected to accompany him this time to Australia.

In 2006, Williams had the biggest tour of the year, pulling almost 500,000 fans to his shows. His Greatest Hits set, from two years before, is his biggest album in Australia, certified 8x Platinum.

Tonight (Thursday April 9), Williams plays St. Petersburg, Russia, and in Moscow on Sunday.

But his plan to play Tel Aviv, Israel, on May 2 led to a protest rally this week outside the London offices of UNICEF. Members of London Palestinian Action, wearing Williams masks, called for a boycott of his shows. Williams is an UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and figureheads for its Children In Danger campaign. The protesters quoted UNICEF figures that last year Israel’s seven-week occupation of Gaza led to the deaths of 500 Palestinian children and injuries to 3,000.
