Rdio Giveaway: VIP Big Day Out tickets, flights and accommodation

After their successful partnership with ARIA for last year’s awards, Rdio have teamed up with Big Day Out to be the festival’s official streaming partner.

More than that, they have launched an epic competition, where every week one winner and three buddies will win free tickets to their closest Big Day Out – with one ultimate winner (plus two friends) scoring flights to the final Big Day Out in Perth, accommodation, and VIP access to the Rdio Den.

To enter the competition, head here, register and state your case in twenty five words or less.

We asked Colin Blake, Head of Territory Australia & New Zealand for Rdio, to explain a little more about this partnership.

Rdio is the streaming partner of BDO, as you were with the ARIAs. What did you learn from the awards that will be implemented into this?

The ARIA Awards partnership was a good success for us. The key learning was really to optimise the connection at many levels. Rdio’s involvement cant just be about a consumer comp, or the streamed content, or activating the event, it needs to be connected at all levels. Both with the ARIAs, and now with Big Day Out, we have partners that were really keen to work with us to accomplish these multi-level goals.

That said, the content definitely is the backbone of both partnerships. We had a massive spike directly after the ARIA Awards and I am sure we will enjoy the same reaction once the Big Day Out performance content is live: right after the Sydney show.

How many of the acts will be streamed? Is it full shows or select songs?

Artist management and the labels have been really positive about us being the Big Day Out official streaming partner. Almost everyone has come back excited about having their performance audio being available on Rdio. Due to set timings and multi-stages we will won’t have all performances on the service, but pretty much all the headliners and good majority of the additional acts will be involved.

We haven’t finalised exactly how many songs it will end up being but things are looking good for it it being a massive chunk of content.
