QMusic’s ‘Industry Connect’ series is making a comeback in 2019

Queensland’s peak music association QMusic has brought back Industry Connect, its free professional development series.

It begins in April in partnership with venues and councils in Brisbane, Ipswich, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Cairns.

Industry Connect provides new and emerging artists access to industry workers and resources through facilitated workshops from April – July annually.

The program aims to give each participant a greater understanding of the music industry, from songwriting to release and everything in between.

Participants get to meet and learn from music biz pros as John Mullen (Dew Process), Johnno Keetels (Universal Music Australia), Andrew Tuttle & Kellie Lloyd (APRA AMCOS), Claire Morrissey (Sony Music Australia), Maggie Collins (Morning Belle), Andy Irvine & Viv Mellish (GYROstream), artist managers, record producers, publicists as well as artists as The Kite String Tangle and Jaguar Jones.

Since launching in 2017, Industry Connect has helped 1,190 artists and music industry practitioners navigate the contemporary music industry landscape.

Two participants from last year include Greta Stanley who continues to gain momentum since the release of her debut LP, Full Grown and Gold Coast R&B pop artist DVNA whose debut single ‘Girl On The Move’ generated 500,000 streams and currently sits across a number of Spotify playlists.

“The feedback, the connection, the feeling of being part of the music community and the culture allowed me to gain confidence in my music and focus on my release,” said DVNA.

Townsville’s Greta Stanley had similar feedback, “These workshops have made me more confident in many aspects of my career within the music industry” she said,

“The workshops and panellists have been really helpful and I would highly recommend them to aspiring artists”.
