Triple M’s $10,000 mistake

Last week, airing an Arctic Monkeys song cost Triple M Melbourne $10,000.

Listener Brett called the station to say he’d heard the acoustic version of Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High played twice during the No Repeat Workday.

Arvos announcer Higgo (left) took the phone call and handed over to Head of Rock Shaun Gough who confirmed the gaffe on air saying “shit”.

“I was going to go to Bali.”

This is the first time Triple M has been caught out with their No Repeat Workday and, when asked if it was a genuine mistake, Triple M declined to comment.

Triple M Adelaide relaunch

Triple M Adelaide has a new sound from today.

Expect to hear The Eagles, Bryan Adams, Led Zeppelin and the Beatles when the station takes on a classic format.

Southern Cross Austereo Head of Content Craig Bruce said: “We’re really excited about how good this will sound.”

Radio Today has also learned a special guest will help the station celebrate the change.

“A very well-known, very high profile Australian rock star will be joining Triple M for the launch,” an insider told us.

Time will tell what affect the change of tact will have on Triple M Adelaide’s ratings.

In the last survey results they had a 7.3 per cent share of the Adelaide radio audience making them the seventh most listened to station overall.

Bruce said: “5MMM has dominated 25-54 males in Adelaide for years now, but we’re greedy.”

“We think with these changes we can build an even larger male profile and also win all people 25-54.”
