Noel Gallagher bails on ARIA Week Liquid Lunch with Tim Rogers

A special ARIA Week edition of Double J’s Liquid Lunch with Tim Rogers has been cancelled, with special guest Noel Gallagher pulling out.

The chat was a much-anticipated highlight of the ARIA Week programming revealed by ARIA chief exec Dan Rosen last month.

Double J revealed that the Liquid Lunch will no longer take place, with Gallagher citing illness for the cancellation.

The station was told that the former Oasis member has been advised to rest in preparation for his upcoming High Flying Birds tour of Australia.

“Unfortunately, Noel Gallagher has had to cancel the Double J Liquid Lunch Live event with Tim Rogers,” said a statement from Gallagher’s management.

“Due to illness, Noel has been advised to focus on the upcoming High Flying Birds shows with U2 in Australia this month.”

Double J took the opportunity to apologise to any listeners who had entered the station’s competition to attend the lunch.

“Apologies to anyone who entered our competition to win tickets for the show. Tim Rogers and the Double J crew were excited to see you.”

ARIA Week kicks off next Monday, November 25 and includes a masterclass and deep-dive into the world of hip hop with Tuma Basa, the director of urban music, at YouTube Music.

There are six Nova Red Rooms taking place across ARIA Week, as well as several intimate gigs, showcases, conferences and events in and around the awards’ host city of Sydney.
